Practical
What we need from you, and what you get from us
Copy limits, image requirements, tracking, reporting, and the list of things we will not share. The boring page, and the one that saves a week of email.
Kurli's placement specs: a short product name, a one-line description of around 20 words, one square product image on a plain background at 1000px or larger, a tracked destination URL, and the hair types the product is formulated for. Reporting is monthly clicks broken down by hair type. Kurli does not publish audience traffic figures on the site and will not share personal user data, photos, or anything derived from a user's face. Request the current specs at hello@kurli.me.

What we need to set up a placement
Product name. Short. It sits in a list next to other products and a 12-word name gets cut.
One-line description, around 20 words. Say what it does and who it is for. Skip the adjectives, because they are the first thing a reader's eye skips too. The best-performing line we have seen in this format is usually a plain statement of the texture and the job.
Product image. Square, plain or transparent background, 1000px or larger on the short side. It gets converted to WebP and resized for the slot. Send the highest quality original you have rather than a web-optimised copy, since we cannot recover detail that was already thrown away.
Destination URL with tracking already applied. Whatever your network gives you. Send the final link, not a template we have to fill in.
Texture mapping. Which hair types the product is formulated for, and honestly which ones it is not. This is the field that decides whether the placement performs.
Price and availability markets. So a reader in a market you do not ship to is not sent to a dead end.
Copy we will ask you to change
Performance claims we cannot check. If the line says clinically proven, we will ask for the study, and if there is not one the phrase comes out.
Medical or drug-adjacent claims. Anything that says a cosmetic product treats a condition, regrows hair, or reverses loss changes the legal category of the product and is not something we will publish in a product slot.
Comparative claims naming a competitor. We are not the right venue for a fight between two brands, and neither of you comes out well.
Absolute superlatives with nothing behind them. The best curl cream is not a claim, it is a noise, and it makes the rest of the line read as noise too.
None of this is us being difficult. A claim in a product slot sits inside a recommendation, so a reader reasonably treats it as something we are standing behind.
Reporting you receive
Monthly, for the period you are booked:
Clicks on your slot, broken down by hair type. The breakdown is the useful part. A total tells you the placement had traffic; the breakdown tells you whether it was matched.
Impressions of the slot for placement bookings, so the click number has a denominator.
A plain note on anything that changed, for example if a category was quiet because a guide page was being rewritten. We would rather tell you than let you find a dip and guess at the reason.
Sales and revenue stay in your own network dashboard, because that is where the source of truth is. We are not going to re-report your numbers back to you with our own rounding on top.
What we will not share
Personal data about users. No emails, no identifiers, no lists.
Photos, or anything derived from a face. Users upload selfies. Those are theirs. No brand gets access to them, to the landmark data, or to any face-derived attribute tied to a person. The privacy policy is the full statement.
Individual-level behaviour. You get aggregate counts, not a trail of what one person did.
Made-up traffic figures. We do not publish audience numbers on the site, and we will not send you a rounded-up one in a deck. Ask and you get what our analytics reports, with the date and the tool named. If the honest number is small, you will see the small number.
Turnaround and timings
Enquiry to reply: a few working days, and you get a reply either way, including no.
Agreement to live placement: usually about a week once we have the assets, most of which is checking links and converting images.
Seeded review: weeks, not days, because the product has to be used long enough for the finding to mean anything.
Changes to a live placement: tell us and we will do it. A discontinued product should be flagged immediately, since a dead link is worse for us than an empty slot.
Who to contact
One inbox, read by a person: hello@kurli.me. Or the form at the bottom of this page, which lands in the same place.
If you are a hairstylist or salon rather than a brand, the stylist side of Kurli is separate and works differently.

Questions
Questions brands ask
What image do you need for a product placement?
A square image on a plain or transparent background, 1000px or larger on the short side. Send the highest quality original rather than a web-optimised copy, because detail that was already compressed away cannot be recovered. It is converted to WebP for the slot.
How long can the placement copy be?
A short product name and a one-line description of around 20 words. Say what it does and who it is for. Long names get cut in the list, and adjectives are the first thing readers skip.
What copy will you refuse to publish?
Performance claims we cannot check, medical or drug-adjacent claims such as regrowing hair, comparative claims naming a competitor, and empty superlatives. A claim inside a recommendation reads to the user as something we are standing behind, so we have to be able to stand behind it.
What reporting do brands get?
Monthly clicks broken down by hair type, impressions for placement bookings, and a plain note on anything unusual that affected the period. Sales and revenue stay in your own affiliate network dashboard.
Will Kurli share user data or photos with brands?
No. No personal data, no emails, no user photos, and nothing derived from a face. Users upload selfies and those remain theirs. Brands receive aggregate counts only.
Will you send me your traffic numbers?
We do not publish them on the site, but ask in your enquiry and we will send what our analytics reports, with the date it was pulled and the tool it came from. If the number is small you will see the small number rather than a rounded one.
How long does it take to go live?
Usually about a week from agreement, once we have your assets. Most of that is checking links and converting images. A seeded review takes weeks, because the product has to actually be used.
How do I change or pause a live placement?
Email us and we will do it. Flag a discontinued product immediately, because a dead link in a recommendation costs reader trust and that is worse for us than an empty slot.
Do you have a rate card?
No published one. Rates depend on the category, the period, and what is already booked. Tell us your budget in the enquiry and we will tell you plainly whether it works.
I am a salon, not a brand. Is this the right page?
No. The stylist side of Kurli is separate and works differently. Start at the find a stylist page instead.
